Gaming with the Gargoyle in Hallow’s Cove by Kass O’Shire

Overall Rating: 🍼🍼🍼🍼

“I never really considered before how many things there are to juggle during sex. I’m literally holding her up, so I’m paying attention to my hands on her ass and that is very distracting, she’s grinding on my dick, so that is extremely distracting, I’m trying to kiss her and not suck at it, and that is very distracting, and now I’m trying to figure out how she likes to have sex and having a mini panic attack about the fact that I have no real idea how to have sex, and that is extremely distracting.”

Gaming with the Gargoyle brings together a nerdy gargoyle, a plus-sized widow, and one hilariously heartfelt pregnancy pact. With DnD vibes, slow-burn tension, and monster spice, this novella delivers charm, giggles, and just enough heat to keep you turning pages. Perfect for readers who love found family, awkward crushes, and friends-to-lovers with claws. 🎲💖🦇

This book is a little firecracker with lots of laughs and nerdy spice. Baby fever? Gaming store? DM- Daddy? Roll your dice for investigating and see if you get lucky 😏

When plus-sized widow Gwen learns she needs a baby to keep her beloved game store, she makes a pregnancy pact with the most unexpected but perfect person—her nerdy, dad-bod gargoyle best friend Gabe, who also happens to be her late husband’s half-brother. What starts as a practical solution soon spirals into something deeper, as the two navigate awkward attraction, emotional baggage, and a whole lot of dice rolls.

I was really excited about this book, I am a gamer in my heart and love to read books with this motive, and this one delivered what I needed 😅.

I giggled so hard at descriptions of Gabe’s and Gwen’s thought. Especially Gabe’s during spicy scenes. They were hilarious. Kass wrote another perfect duo that fit like a puzzle.

Kass descriptions of Hallow’s Cove were so cozy and comforting, I would like to be lost in this city. It breathed apple cider and cinnamon rolls right from the pages.

I enjoyed this book very much. I only felt that Kass took us on so long journey to “I Love You” that I wish we got more in that one chapter.

Gaming with the Gargoyle is exactly what it promises—a cozy, low-angst monster romance with just the right touch of spice and a whole lot of heart. Gwen and Gabe’s dynamic is adorable, awkward, and sweetly sexy in the most unexpected ways. If you love a DnD-tinged friends-to-lovers story with found family vibes, a plus-sized FMC who knows what she wants, and a nerdy gargoyle MMC who’s low on charisma but high on swoon? You’re in for a charming, comfort read. It won’t change your life, but it’ll warm your heart and maybe give you a little baby fever while you giggle through it.

A fun, geeky escape with just enough heat to keep things interesting. I’d definitely roll again in Hallow’s Cove. 🎲🖤🦇
