Even Angels Fall by E.V. Sauvage

“I’m not the only one with a short memory here. Remember Lucifer.” He pauses and kisses the
side of my head. “Even angels fall, Michaël. Even angels fall.

I was never a fan of white angels; they seemed so pure in stories that it was impossible. It looks like I was not alone, and E.V. Sauvage thought the same when she wrote this fantastic novella.

This review will contain explicit and sexual content, and spoilers will be marked.

But I think I would have preferred he asked anything. “You’re to marry Elhyor, and on your
wedding night, while he’ll be buried in you, you’ll kill him.

Well, tell me about a dysfunctional family, when your father is training you to kill your future husband so he will get some stupid cathedral. Okay, Notre Dame is probably a pretty important cathedral, especially in the dystopian future where shapeshifters from other dimensions are pretending to be angels from human religion. However, still, it is just a building.

A lovely weapon with porcelain skin, the deepest blue eyes, and lips that always look rosy. I look
like a doll—minus the hair. They say every woman has the potential to look like a doll. Whether it’
s Barbie or Annabelle, it’s up to them.

Angelica’s life isn’t easy; she is the daughter of one of the most powerful men among “Angels,” but because of the color of her wings and animal, she is forbidden to shift. Her father is abusive towards her to the level when he makes her shave her head, and she is living a training hell in a palace in Versailles. After a day, her father tells her that she will marry the dragon shifter that owns Notre Dame, and her life will take a turn. Will she be able to kill her husband? Let`s find out.

Welcome to Paris in a dystopian future where Angels are real, but they are not real angels but shifters. I can and will rave about this book. You know, the plot wasn`t really unpredictable, but be real: no one expects a plot twist from a smutty romantic book. It is more of an exception than a rule when the plot of a romantic book surprises you. But it did not take anything from this book; more so, it adds that the author did not want to make it surprising just because. The setting in a dystopian future where angels are shifters and not good kind; chefs kiss. I eat that shit up. For the first time, I would love to know more about this future than was said in the book, and I am not one who really cares about politics and world-building in the books. The idea was terrific. Also, multiple POVs are fantastic. I loved that we could see some moments from Cassi’s point of view.

Let’s look at our protagonists.

I’m also not a damsel in distress who needs saving. I can do the damn saving all by myself.

You really are a little devil,” Elhyor says as he eyes my lips. We have things to do, but I want to
suck his cock. Sue me.

Angelica is just my new favorite FMC. Not because she is perfect—far from it—but because she felt real. Her emotions throughout the book were contagious, and I was anxious with her, felt her inner conflicts, and understood her desire to belong somewhere. There were so many moments where I could see myself in her and feel like the story was happening to me. I was amazed. It has been a long time since some FMC sat so right with me. I have nearly 80 highlights in this book, and I cannot decide which to use in the review so it doesn’t change just to quotes from the book 😂

“Little Devil, you’re killing me. You’re so beautiful on your knees for me,” Elhyor says with hooded
eyes.

“You’re doing so good, Little Wife,” Elhyor says. “It’s like your hands were made for me.”

Elhyor is definitely one of the top 5 places between fictional boyfriends. He is sexy (well, of course), grumpy, supportive, protective, sometimes annoying her, and can cook… I swear the author wrote him to remind us that the perfect man at this level did not exist in real life. ( If my soon-to-be hubby is reading this, I love you 😂) His humor – fantastic. And that filthy mouth gets me blushing like a virgin on her wedding day. I was unsure what was better when he called her little devil or wife. Just uuuuuuffff….

thought that by getting married to a stranger I would grow to resent him, but instead… I think I’m
growing to… like him. And I think he might like me, too. I’m not talking about the mind-blowing
sex. Who wouldn’t like that, anyway? Focus, Angélique, focus.

”You wicked man,” I say, half panting, half laughing. “You can’t have a second breakfast; we’re
not hobbits.”

Let’s focus on romance and spice for a moment. The author has my praises for the way she captured the development of emotions between Elhyor and Angelica. I was really happy that they were not in love. Yes, instant attraction, sure, but she took care to emphasize that they developed feelings through the time they spent together.

And the spice… 🥵🥵🥵🥵 just fantastic. I haven’t read hot scenes like that for a long time. L-O-V-E I-T!

“Ready or not, I’m coming,” Brice says from behind the door. For fuck’s sake. “Could have waited until I did,” I grumble to myself. I know the bastard will hear it, and that’s the point. “Put your pants back on, you dirty exhibitionist,” Brice adds as he pokes his head inside the office.

“Awesome,” he mutters. “So I won’t remember my own name, but somehow, I’ll still remember
fey porn.”
Leandre

“In this life or the next,” she says as she bends his head to touch their foreheads. I don’t know
this man, but I’m already crying.

“That’s why he’s drunk?” she asks, without aiming her question at anyone this time. “There might
be a bit of that and the fact that this one married the devil’s daughter today,” Cassiopé says from
where she decided to sit next to Léandre

“It’s a computer,” Luc says with awe in his voice. “From what you’re saying, it’s probably a few
centuries old. Humans stopped producing them roughly four hundred years ago.” “The history
lesson is nice and all, but what do I do with it? How does it work?” Brice asks. “There should be
a button to turn it on. It looks like a circle with a line cutting the circle on its upper part.” “What?
The thing won’t recognize I’m in the room?” Brice seems appalled by the fact, which only
amuses Luc, who decides to sass him in response. “Those things hate people. It’s not about
you,” he says with a chuckle.

Bryce, Cassie, Leandre, Luk… I love the side characters in this book. I want so much to see where their stories will go. I wish my lucky star that the author will continue this series because I am hooked.

Oh my, oh my… I was so happy with the storyline. Amazingly, the author lets Angelica kill her father without Elhyor’s help in the end. It was an epic battle, and I was so happy that even though it would be nice if he would save her, she won her own battles—just badass FMC.

Hopefully, Cassie/Leander’s story will be next. I would love to see more from them, even when they hooked up in this book.

Also, the detailed, gruesome scene with Brice at the end got me. I was crying like a little girl, and I will definitely be waiting for the second book to know if he made it.

Even Angels Fall is my newest obsession. I loved the characters and world so much that I will be shouting praise to everybody who will listen. If you love a good love story, filthy mouth men, badass strong FMC, and funny banter, you will not regret taking this book to hand.
